Your School Can be a ZOO!
Can’t come to us? Then we can come to you!
A ZOOmobile visit can be an enriching and stimulating experience for all involved. Our community ZOOmobile visits schools, daycares, summer camps, nursing and assisted living homes, retirement homes, senior centers, club meetings and social groups. This flexible 1-hour program offers educational information in a fun and educational manner. Participants will be provided with the opportunity to see animals up close and even touch a few. There will also be plenty of time throughout the program for questions.
The ZOOmobile has a special educational animal collection that includes small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, spiders and insects. Sorry, we cannot bring large or potentially dangerous animals (i.e. big cats, monkeys etc.). Some of the animals can be touched, but this depends on the animal and the audience. Zoo staff and volunteers handle the animals in a controlled setting.
The ZOOmobile engages students by bringing live animals into schools to help them learn and retain concepts such as habitats, adaptations, classification, predator/prey relationships and much more. Up-close encounters with wildlife and biofacts (skins, bones, etc.) help schools meet curriculum requirements in a memorable way. All of the programs offered meet standards across the curriculum.
With a maximum of 35 students in each program, students will have opportunities to interact with the presenter and the animals in these up-close and hands-on presentations.
